MAX HOLZ was founded in 2012 by Felix Kabas (accordion, voc.) and Valentin Sützl (drums). Meanwhile Gregorio S. Lubroth (violins, voc.),
Martin Mikulik (guit., main voc.) and
Tom Aichinger (bass, voc.) have joined.

ÜBER MAX HOLZ
In Eile scheint bei Max Holz niemand zu sein. Warum auch, wenn sich einmal alle zusammen eingefunden haben, um musikalisch eine doch sehr weite Welt zu erkunden?
In aller Ruhe beginnt sich eine Vielfarbigkeit auszubreiten, die direkt dem Corpus der Instrumente zu entspringen scheint. Akkordeon und Violine halten sich zumeist versonnen im Hintergrund und weben an einem dichten Nebel der Klänge, nur um dann ebenso selbstverständlich in den Vordergrund zu drängen wie die Geister, die sie riefen. Die eingestreuten Vokalstrecken lassen den eigentlich sehr weiten Weg von Mark Lanegan zu Prince erstaunlich kurz anmuten. Und als wäre das nicht schon für sich ein Schmunzeln wert, gibt es noch ein paar nicht ganz so todernst gemeinte Abstecher zum Falsettgesang der Tiger Lillies. Die Rhythmusgruppe agiert bei all dem mit angenehmer Unaufgeregtheit, als gelte es vermeintliche Alphamännchen gleich vorsorgend auszubremsen.
Dass aus dem Album Winter kein Weltmusikseminar geworden ist, liegt auch an einem in der Ruhe gut versteckten Zug zur Eingängigkeit. Stets ist eine Struktur zu erkennen, obwohl man in den wenigsten Momenten besonders weit auf das noch Kommende vorausschauen kann. Und auch wenn es mal apart wird, scheint es stets in einem Klangraum zu passieren, in den man zuvor geschickt eingeführt wurde. So tritt ein Bildreigen vor das geistige Auge und bedient den Winterfilm. Welche Bilder das im Genaueren sind, wird die Zuhörerin und der Zuhörer selbst erleben.
